TRIED BY FIRE
“The trial by fire on the
Day will reveal whether the works of each Christian,
while on earth, were of the Lord or of man.”
There is coming a Day when all
Christians will be tried by fire. The trial by fire
will be at the judgment seat of Christ, which takes
place after the return of Jesus Christ. First
Corinthians 3:13 calls the time of the trial by fire
the Day. The trial by fire on the Day will reveal
whether the works of each Christian, while on earth,
were of the Lord or of man. The works of man will be
considered wood, hay, and straw and will be burned. The
works of the Lord will be considered as gold, silver,
and precious stones and will be rewarded. Those
Christians whose works are not pleasing to the Lord
will weep, but they will be saved as through fire.
Those disciples who forsook all and followed the Lord
while on earth will rejoice, as will the Lord.
The Spirit of God is working
through true present-day prophets trying to call the
Church to repentance. He is trying to warn Christians
to prepare for the coming Day. Presently, most
Christians are too occupied with the activities of
modern church, self, and the kingdoms of the world to
pay attention. The Lord God is longsuffering and will
continue to plead with His children for their
attention, but the “time is short” for each
Christian to hear and respond. The days on earth for
each Christian are not unlimited. Regretfully, many
will continue as they are until their spirit leaves
their body. If they are born again, to be absent from
the body means they will go to be with the Lord. But if
they did not repent and turn from their works of wood,
hay, and straw, they will weep at the judgment seat of
Christ.
Your attitude may be that you are
glad just to get in by the skin of your teeth, and
besides, you are having a good ole time rocking and
rolling in Church. Well, you may be, but if your works
are not as gold, silver, and precious stones, your good
ole time will turn to weeping on that Day. Though saved
as through fire, you will have to acknowledge you were
selfish and more concerned about finding something that
pleased you and/or your family than in glorifying
Christ.
One of the saddest things in the
Bible is the account of those who were saved out of
Egypt but never enjoyed the
rewards of the Promised Land. How sad that some, though
saved out of sin, will not enjoy the rewards of the
Day! I hope and pray that you are prepared, or soon
will be, and that you will begin as never before
preparing others, so that many will rejoice at the
trial by fire on the coming Day.

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
For no one can lay any foundation
other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
If any man builds on this foundation using gold,
silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work
will be shown for what it is, because the Day will
bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and
the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If
what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.
If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself
will be saved, but only as one escaping through the
flames. 1 Corinthians
