BECOMING ONE BODY
“There is a work to be done
on this earth that only the Church can do.”
The Church is in great need of
restoration. One of the clearest signs that she needs
restoration is evidenced by her disunity and division.
The unity of His body is of great importance to the
Lord Jesus Christ, and should be important to all of
the members of His body. The Spirit of God, through
prophets of God, is calling the Church to repent of her
disunity and division and become one body. If the
Church will become one with God and with each other,
she will have gone a long way towards restoration.
The need for restoration, which
includes unity, does not mean that there are not good
and godly things in the Church. To restore a piece of
furniture requires that one has something to work with.
There is much to work with in the Church! But there is
also much that needs to be repented of and changed.
High on the list is the need to repent of disunity and
division. There is a work to be done on this earth that
only the Church can do. She cannot do that work in
completion until she is restored to the biblical
pattern, and a key part of the biblical pattern
involves the body of Christ being one with God and one
with each other.
When Jesus said that He would
build His Church and the gates of Hades would not
prevail against it, He knew that she needed to be one
with God and one with each other to live in victory.
His prayer in John 17 reveals how important the unity
of the Church is to our Lord Jesus and her purposes on
earth. The body of Christ, her leaders and members,
would benefit greatly from a revelation of the
Lord’s heart for the unity of His Church. I
encourage ministers and members of the Church to cry
out to God for spiritual wisdom, revelation, and
understanding of the need for unity. After you receive
wisdom, revelation, and understanding, then enter into
agreement with the Lord Jesus and His prayer for unity.
Pray, fast, and make intercession for the unity of the
Church.
The Holy Spirit is looking for
ministers and members in the body of Christ who will be
awakened to the need for restoration and unity. If you
become awakened to the need, will you step in the gap
for the Church? Will you stand for what will restore
her and bring her to unity? Will you stand against
anything that is a stumbling block to the Church being
restored and becoming one body? The Lord be with you
and strengthen you as you do. He will join you with
others who see the need and know that there is a cause.
