Accountable and Responsible
Ministers
“The members of the Church
usually do not mature beyond their leaders.”
I am searching for ministers of
Christ who realize that the Church needs to be restored
and will do what is necessary to bring about
restoration. Presently, the Church of our day has many
members who are not born again, many other members who
years after being born again are still babes, and many
others who are backslidden. Yes, the Church of our day
does have some devoted disciples, but for the most part
they are few and far between and are isolated from one
another. Who is responsible for this? Who is
responsible for people becoming members of a local
church without being born again? Who is responsible for
born again members still being babes many years after
being saved? Who is responsible for the Church not
being unified in faith? Who is responsible for
equipping saints so that they become mature and devoted
disciples of Jesus Christ who are united in faith?
The Church as a whole, as well as
the various parts of the Church, reflects her leaders.
The members of the Church receive their direction from
those in the pulpit. The members of the Church usually
do not mature beyond their leaders. In the eyes of the
Lord, Church leaders have great responsibility and, in
time, will give great accountability to Him concerning
their ministry to His body, the Church. The
understanding of this responsibility and accountability
should make leaders fall on their faces before God. In
the Church, we need a return to the fear of the Lord,
and it should begin with her ministers. It will begin
with ministers when they fully realize who God is and
that they are going to give an account to Him. The
Church is the Lord’s body! Ministers are going to
give an account of how they handled His body!
Judgment begins with the house of
the Lord. It is God’s will that the Church
examines (judges) herself. Ministers should lead the
way by examining (judging) themselves. There is coming
a fire of purging in the Church, and it is going to
begin with her ministers. It is better that the
ministers voluntarily judge themselves and then call
the church to self-examination. Jesus is building His
Church, and His Church will be in His image. Ministers,
if you were called of God, you were called to build His
Church in His image, not in some group’s ideas of
His image. You will give an account as to your
faithfulness to His building plans and not some
group’s building plans.
Ministers, lead the way in
returning the Church to the Lord and His Word of truth.
Ministers, lead the way in humility, prayer, seeking
God’s face, and repentance from man’s ways
of building the Lord’s Church. God be with you if
you decide to do this. There will be opposition from
all sides, but the battle is the Lord’s, and He
will rejoice with you and those you equipped for Him at
the coming judgment seat of Christ. Praise the Lord,
and equip His Church!

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
Be shepherds of God's flock that
is under your care, serving as overseers—not
because you must, but because you are willing, as God
wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to
serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but
being examples to the flock. And when the Chief
Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory
that will never fade away. 1 Peter 5:2-4 NIV
