Stepping Up in Prayer and the Word
“Concerning ministering the
Word, what really matters is that
the truth of
Jesus and His Word is ministered.”
Prayer and the Word have always
been important in our local church, but a few years ago
the Lord spoke to us that we should step up in both of
these areas. We have tried to be obedient and
faithful to His directions for us. Prayer is very
important in the life of our local ministry. The
people pray individually, corporately, privately, and
publicly. They are committed to studying the Word and
are also becoming experienced in teaching the Word.
Presently, we are studying the Beatitudes, the book of
Second Peter, and the book of James. A different person
is teaching each one.
Yesterday morning after waking, I
was prompted in my spirit to take a walk and spend time
in prayer. Early on during prayer, the Holy Spirit
gave me fresh inspiration and insight concerning
praying for the Church and then followed that with
fresh inspiration and insight about ministering the
Word. To understand what took place, one must be
inspired of the Spirit. To the uninspired mind, the
account of what took place might seem meaningless, but
what I heard in my spirit was clear, concise,
insightful, and inspirational.
Concerning praying for the Church,
my heart and mind were impressed in a fresh way that we
must pray for what God wants the Church to be, and pray
against what is hindering the Church. These are simple
words, but so profound if one can see the need with
their total being; if they can see with the eyes of the
Spirit. If one will allow the Spirit of God to awaken
them to the need and give them revelation of what God
desires, they will never be the same.
Concerning ministering the Word, I
was given understanding that what really matters is
that the truth of Jesus and His Word is ministered. It
is not important if doors of ministry open for me; I am
a nothing. The importance is that doors open for
the truth of Jesus, His kingdom and His Word to be
spread throughout the earth. We must give ourselves to
that. It will take our all, after we empty
ourselves of self.
I believe that there are people
who are ready to give themselves to the Lord. I believe
that they are waiting for something to spark them and
move them in the direction of forsaking all to follow
the Lord. If you are one of those, will you ask
the Lord to allow you to see as He sees? Will you ask
Him to give you His heart? If you do, I assure you
without a doubt that He will lead you to stepping up in
prayer and the Word. God bless you as you do!
