Is God Involved in Judgment?
“Could it be that some people have reasons that
they do not want to
believe that God is judging in
a particular situation?”
Most of those who believe in deism believe
in the existence of a God or Supreme Being, but they do
not believe that God interferes with human life and the
laws of the universe. They claim that it gives them
peace to believe that way.
Most professing Christians that I
am aware of reject deism, and rightfully so; deism
should be rejected. It is not based on truth. But it is
interesting to me that while most Christians reject
deism, many Christians also reject that God is involved
in certain things that take place on earth. They
especially reject that God may be sending judgments
upon the earth, and they definitely reject that God may
be sending judgments upon people.
In this message, I am not
specifically saying that any particular situation that
has taken place was a judgment of God. I will say that
I found it interesting that the first minister I recall
seeing on television after 9/11 was quick to say that
there was no judgment of God involved. I later learned
that the same minister had just divorced his wife, or
was planning to shortly. It has been said that he
actually had his next wife already picked out before
the divorce took place. Could it be that some people
have reasons that they do not want to believe that God
is judging in a particular situation? Does their
believing this way give them some type of perceived
peace or justification concerning their own actions?
There are other Christians who
refuse to believe or accept that God is judging, so
they will say that those involved are reaping what they
have sown, or they might say that God is permitting
something to take place. There are other things that
people say, but all of this does raise the question of
what does the Word of God say?
Is God involved in judging the
earth and the peoples of the earth? Is God involved in
judging the Church? Are things taking place with no
involvement of God? Are people reaping what they have
sown with no involvement of God? What do people really
mean when they say something is not specifically the
judgment of God, but God permitted it?
I said that, in this message, I
was not going to say that any particular situation is a
result of God’s judgment, but I will say that I
believe it would be wise to seek God in prayer and in
the study of His Word. I specifically ask you to do a
thorough study of what the Word of God has to say about
the behavior of the people of God and its relationship
to the weather. It will be an interesting study. Your
conclusion may be that, in the area of weather, you are
a Deist, but at least you will know more about what is
in the Bible. After all, the Bible is the criteria for
future judgments, such as the judgment seat of Christ
and the Great White Throne Judgment. Is God involved? I
don’t know about you, but I am not going to go by
what others say. I am going to go by what God says. The
Lord says that, if I need wisdom, I can ask Him for it,
and I can study His Word to see what is written. That
sounds good to me, what about to you?

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
When your judgments come upon the
earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn
righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on
doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD.
