Personal Communion with Jesus
Christ
“The Lord Jesus desires to
walk closely with His disciples, His friends.
He desires to walk closely with
you!”
Are you certain of your eternity?
Do you know any Christians who are not sure about their
eternity? The Church has many members who are not born
again, and the Church has many members who have been
born again, but do not have personal communion with
Jesus Christ. Only in ongoing personal communion with
Jesus Christ does one find assurance of their future
eternal state.
Although there are some Christians
who receive medicine that gives them a sense of peace
when they are sick, there are many Christians who never
really know the peace that surpasses understanding as
they move through life. They constantly struggle with
doubts, fears, worries, and anxieties. Jesus is our
Prince of Peace, and He wants us to walk closely with
Him and enjoy peace within. The peace that surpasses
understanding becomes an ongoing reality when one walks
in close fellowship with the Lord Jesus.
One can have a blood relationship
with relatives and not be in fellowship with those
relatives. One can also have a relationship with the
Lord Jesus and not walk in close personal fellowship
and communion with Him. The Lord Jesus desires to walk
closely with His disciples, His friends. He desires to
walk closely with you!
In Philippians 3:8-10, we can
learn much about being close to Our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. Paul speaks of knowing Him. This is not
just an intellectual knowing but a knowing of the
heart. The Lord Jesus wants to have a personal heart to
heart communion with each of His family members.
Do you desire a close personal
fellowship With Jesus Christ? He is reaching out to
you! His promise is that if you will reach out to Him
He will draw close to you. This is not accomplished by
our own works. It is something that will be made a
reality by the Holy Spirit as we cry out for unity with
Christ and yield ourselves to His Spirit.
Some ministers teach doctrines
that try to give people peace in life and assurance
about their eternal destination. Doctrines are good if
they are true, but internal peace and assurance about
eternity only really come through constantly abiding in
Christ. All Scripture should point us to Him and to
knowing Him, as Paul spoke of. Will you begin seeking
Christ until you know Him in personal fellowship and
communion, and will you continue walking close to Him
forever? Remember that eternal security is not from
learning a doctrine or remembering an experience; it is
from knowing Jesus Christ and walking in ongoing
personal communion with Him.
